Ask Him a Question. Know He Replies
Ask Him a Question. Know He Replies
‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33.3 NKJV)
Some time ago I felt the Lord challenge me with something of an engineering task. It was building a 3D printer, but mostly out of parts available to me at the hardware store, and a few rods I found at a junkyard. I had some tools. Not a great collection, but enough to start working on this project.
It does not sound very sacred, I know, but I have found God to be very active in my creativity and know without a shadow of doubt that God has inspired creativity in me many times in my past.
This time, though, I had hit a snag. I had what I knew to be the basic elements needed to build — but I did not know how to modify these parts with the limited tools I had at the time.
I felt to ask God about it. But, I felt to ask Him as if He was sitting right next to me — not aloof or indifferent.
And, when I did, I felt a peace that I knew to mean the problem will be settled.
Sure enough, I was laying down a few hours later, and suddenly in a vision I saw an old toolbox that I had forgotten I even had. (It had not been seen in years.)
Not only did I see the toolbox, but I saw where it was — buried under junk in a corner since we moved into that house. I also saw, in the toolbox, a tool I had forgotten I even had, and then I saw a procedure on how to use this tool in a different way to create the part I needed with the materials I had.
This instance taught me one thing: God will answer questions if we dare to ask them. Sure, some things remain mysteries. I do not get an answer every time I ask a question: but the more I do ask, the more answers I get. There is a connection between approaching God with wide-eyed wonder and curiosity, and having His mysteries made known.
I have found that when I approach His Word expecting to be amazed, I often am. And when I am bold to ask a question about His nature or the world I live in, I am often amazed again.
The answers may not come immediately — it may not even look the way we expect. Sometimes it can even be months before God answers a question that I had placed before Him.
This experience gave me the boldness to ask more questions — and to believe that He will answer.
A further note: We know the Bible is truth, and no revelation should contradict His Word. Read the Bible regularly and learn well what is written — not just your favourite verses but the larger context around them. It is a wonderful world of revelation ready for you to find and it is a very rich place for God’s voice to speak through.
There may be some, though, that read this and feel frustrated or left out because they do not perceive His voice in their life. I do believe that God does speak to His people still today, in any way we have faith to hear. It could be through a still, small voice; it could be through pictures or just unexplainable understandings. Find some good books on hearing God’s voice. God had spoken to me throughout my life, and I didn’t even realise it… weird pictures I would see would be put down to imagination until I learned what the prophetic was. Only then did I realise what I was experiencing was not random but God ‘speaking.’ You may have been hearing God for a long time without knowing it.
Be blessed!!!
